Tonmoy Goswami

nice, so I'm assuming you divide your work into projects (Calendar) /tasks (Keep) /todo. (todo app + pomodoro)

Yash Bhardwaj

Yep. I have different categories for the type of tasks in To-Do. For example, a programming task and reading documentation for an API will go into the same category. These tasks are shared between To-Do and Keep. I use calendar only to allocate the time WHEN I'll be doing it.

Keyul Shah

Pomodoro is so much underrated for productivity

Tonmoy Goswami

True Keyul Shah. I started using it when I was struggling with my focus. Helps a lot. Although quickly outgrew it after reading 'Deep Work' by Cal Newport.

Keyul Shah

Interesting. Can you share more about it?Tonmoy Goswami

Tonmoy Goswami

Keyul Shah It's a nice read specially if you're into optimizing your productivity. Pomodoro feels a bit strict since you have to 'work' during the work period, but life happens without permission. E.g. a phone call, a door bell, nature's call, important email pops up and so on. So instead of restricting yourself to 'slots' of 'deep work' with pomodoro, understanding your natural clock to identify when (and how) you get into the deep work state works better. And once you're in that state, just do your best work. There's a lot more in the book.

Tonmoy Goswami

Sharing my stack:
1. Evernote (noting micro thoughts, ideas, scribble and forget, second brain)
2. TickTick (daily todo + pomodoro + timely reminders)
3. SMS Organizer (declutter sms inbox, Gmail style folders, easily copy OTP, quick view bank accounts, block spam)

Pratik Kanthi

None.
Apps have always been a distraction for me. Productivity is deeply personal. I think getting rid of all apps is a sure way for me to focus on work.

Tonmoy Goswami

that's another way of looking at things. Many people find pen and paper to be more productive. Depends on how we reach deep work state. Apps are just extensions of ourselves.

Astha Jain

Pratik Kanthi agree, somehow for me, my planner works best. I too get distracted by apps.

Raj Vardhan Tiwari

1. Google podcasts
2. YouTube
3. Live Law

4. Google

Tonmoy Goswami

Google assistant? Or search?

Raj Vardhan Tiwari

search. Google assistant is their worst app for me.

Vishnu Goyal

Microsoft todo homepage widget on phone

Tonmoy Goswami

nice, Microsoft has been doing really well with their Android apps. At present, SMS Organizer and Edge are probably the best sms & best browser app on Android respectively.

Vishnu Goyal

nicee will try , I use brave for browser

Shivam Malhotra

Is there any app where you can record your thoughts and schedule a reminder to hear them in future?

Tonmoy Goswami

most note taking apps (Evernote, Google Keep etc) have voice note functionality. Google Assistant might be able to play your voice notes on demand or on reminder, I haven't used it. Check it out. Let us know if it works.

Shivam Malhotra

thank you, will check these out and share my experience with you tomorrow.

getplan, notion

Tonmoy Goswami

getplan looks interesting. Do you use it for work or personal? I find Notion excellent for taking organized notes like making book summaries.

Sushant Shekhar

I use getPlan for organizing my life:)
Most of the things that go in there are professional though..

Harshal N Shroff

Okay Google start my briefing...continue with a Spotify playlist on the big screen.

Keep. Medium. YouTube.

But the assistant helps a lot almost. To mange the mundane nd environment settings. Rest it's mails and whatsapps a lot.

Tonmoy Goswami

do you have Google Assistant 2.0?

Harshal N Shroff

see i didn't know there was a 2.0. i started with it on my pixel phone then my new Xiaomi tv and now with my current phone....and got an assistant bot.

I kind of baught in the whole train ur assistant thing..... also my parents see tohave animated responses to it.

But more so beacuse "it's just easier to talk to tech" and typing is just cumbersome and the text to speech is GOOD af.

It can write this comment. So yeah

Tonmoy Goswami

happy to see you use it to its full potential. And GA is adding new capabilities every passing day, so yeah... Do check out GA 2.0 (It's a Pixel exclusive as of now, I guess). It's less intrusive and beautifully lights up the bottom of your screen when you talk to it. Want to try it out, but sadly not a Pixel user here.

Harshal N Shroff

as i said...i started with that....it just didn't hit me it was upgraded one...works the same on my TV....I wanted to buy the new pixel5 but not releasing in India....it has soli chip. The things google ATAP has... considering jio ecosystem.. god. They have earbuds that translate on the fly. Its so mind boggling.

If pixel line up is manufactured in India with anything to local language translation by far the best tech ever.

Saurav

Tonmoy Goswami just after seeing your comment i did a bit of research and after spending half an hour, enabled it on my device, looks great, little buggy tho, thanks👍

Saurav

1. Google Keep : for note keeping
2. Mezo : for SMS managing, spam filter, instant OTP copy
3. Money Manager

Tonmoy Goswami

how does Mezo compare to Microsoft SMS Organizer? Have you tried both.

Saurav

hello, the spam detection and blocking works better on Mezo

SMS organiser tabs it seperately

Mezo archives it away from inbox

Gaurav Khanna

Can I shamelessly ask you to try my app?
Combination of today todo, background music and pomodoro features help me personally to spend some productive time. The latest version 1.0.5 will be live in India in a couple of hours. https://goodapp.in for details.

Tonmoy Goswami

after Notion started offering unlimited blocks to its free users, it's undoubtedly the best app to take organized notes. Do you use it personally or within a team?

Gratitude, Spotify, Mind node

Tonmoy Goswami

nice..Mind node looks interesting. What's your process of mind-mapping?

Shashi Kumar

Mind node is such a fantastic app. It helps us write down all the ideas related to a goal. You can drag and adjust the nodes accordingly. But, do check out the Gratitude app. It's an app with a sunrise background and a heart on its app icon.

Being grateful makes you happy and productive:)

Btw, this complete thread looks great! So many things to learn from here.

Tonmoy Goswami

True, it's fascinating to learn from the best practices followed by other like-minded people. Learnt of quite a few fab apps since yesterday.

Prashanth Gurunath

Can you all try my app City Square and tell me if you find it useful?
Using the app you can add multiple input locations and can find the center location that's equidistant to all the added places.

Tonmoy Goswami

sounds interesting. Will try. For what use cases? Meetups etc?🤔

Prashanth Gurunath

For planning an outing. You don't have to travel a lot next time to a meetup place. Find the meetup place based on the central location. P. S: The app works worldwide. You can find the central location between Kansas and Koramangala.😉

Karan Arora

YouTube, English Dictionary, and LinkedIn! ahahaha

Amit Savargaonkar

Amit Savargaonkar
