Lets start with what exactly is a shoutout ?

Paying a really big page on Instagram to post your content so that you get more followers.

1. NICHE :
No matter what happens never ever choose an account that is not 100% of your niche.

Eg :

Fitness tips page -> big fitness theme pages

Travel photos -> travel theme pages

2. ENGAGEMENT RATE :

Always check engagement rate on social blade!

Compare with a few accounts.

I d say preferably double digits but they are harder to find.

3. BIO OPTIMIZATION :

Make sure your bio resonates with the words used in your shoutout creative and caption.

4. NO FIXED PRICE :

Always negotiate, they will usually agree for 100-200 less.

5. CAPTION :

Use standard shoutout captions dont be creative.
What has been used works dont use your head.
It will ruin everything.
Ad copy and shoutout captions are different.

6. SHARING :

Tell your friends to comment on your shoutout post within 1 hour of posting it will increase your reach!

7. PRICE :

Ads cost rs 1-2/follower.

Shoutouts should get you followers at a cheaper rate otherwise it doesnt make sense.

8. TRACKING :
Create an excel sheet to compare engagement rates , prices per follower of each shoutout you take.

Even if it fails you ll learn.

9. TIME :
Decide the time for your shoutout based on insights of your account.

10. DONT BE CREATIVE :
Stick to what works for other people.

Ask the shoutout page to know what works and what doesnt they know better than you.

People are not receptive to change on Instagram feeds.

THE BIGGEST MISTAKE I MADE :
BEING SO GREEDY FOR ENGAGEMENT RATE :

do not choose an account that is even slighly out of your niche because shoutout is cheap or engagement rate of that account is high.

Try shout outs to direct them for a product, or offering. Very few follow a page after a shout out. I have got sales in past 3 months only because of 2 shout outs which directed them towards one of our offerings, they could directly register on the link. Out of the people who registered not even 5% followed.
