I learnt marketing from my grandparents.
Seriously. Gary Vaynerchuk once said that the 'Baby Boomers' and the 'Gen X' are more probable to run better businesses than any millennial today.
And when I heard of this last year, I looked at my own family to make sense of this.
My grandmother, is surrounded by her fans. She brings people together beautifully. The whole community loves her.
Lesson learnt: Community building for personal branding in a selected niche.
My grandfather, a highly disciplined and intelligent man. The way he carries himself makes me slouch less(lol). He replies to every DM he receives.
Lesson learnt: Brand positioning as an authority and discipline.
And here we don't have the courtesy to text someone back, reply to a comment, check the 'other folder' on FB.
People build businesses. Keep them happy and treat everyone with love and respect. Not just those who you want as clients. Everyone.
That's good business.
