Piyush Soni .

Are you seeking guidance?🤔🤔

People often need guidance at various stages in life and it is really helpful to get this from a person with relevant experience in a particular field.

Cold calling/emailing might not be a good experience for either party. Many people want to help others but feel active involvement would be too taxing on their personal life.😔😔

What if there was an option for mentors to define a schedule when they're available, which could be as small as 1 hour/week? 🤩🤩

Interested people who want to consult these mentors can book these slots online and contact the person via video chat. It would be the mentor's choice to give this service as free or for some charge.

What are your views on this idea? Would you be interested to join such a platform?

What do you expect from this platform? What things it should serve?

Product Validation from experienced folks who built and launched Products, Consultation on Growth Hacking

Checkout the app called - 'snug'. It's not free though. You have to pay min. consultation fees, starting from ₹1000

Piyush Soni

Gautam Koundinya Thats a good idea actually,That way it can be used as on Validation platform as well

Piyush Soni

Gulshan Kumar Singh Yeah but that's a very expensive platform. Also, it is an idea related to meet and share your experiences. I am talking about something like online consultation.

Gulshan Kumar Singh

when it comes to mentorship, it's really hard to find a good mentor. You can find lot of mentors on many platforms, some conduct seminars also, but they are 'self-claimed mentor'. They don't really care about your idea.

More than your idea validation, they are looking for their self validation.

So, it's good if you can create a platform but I don't know how much it'll be useful

Piyush Soni

Correct! This is just an idea that I have shared! It's not only limited to validation. I hope you got my point.

Gulshan Kumar Singh

yes..I got your point

Along with mentorship, sometimes a young person doesn't have money to invest in a business. So the mentor can help them get funding and also financial mentorship.

c

Yeah that also a nice idea, we can implement that as well!

dea looks a great in first thought. But how to avail the quality guidance/solution by mentors is the question. We are also looking for to add this kind feature to our product upmetrics.co. Our user might be interested in getting side assistance for their startups/bizplans.

Piyush Soni

Oh thats great! Yes quality assurance can be a challenge but I think over time it can be implemented!

Anaggh Desai

tell me more.

Don't know about a new platform. But that is what Theonehourmentor.org is about. It's fremium as you youngsters would term it. And in the past year alone must have met 50+ people across India

Piyush Soni

I will definately see this!

Piyush Gupta

We are working on a similar platform, will update once we launch APP officially, right now we are doing it offline

Piyush Soni

Ohh thats great. Looking forward for it

In my opinion ,kickstart session should be provided FREE of cost by the mentor and this will allow mentee to get comfortable with the session first.

If mentee accepts to go further ,mentor can charge him for the dedicated sessions.

Also,a feedback or rating system should be built around this platform to make this system make a difference .

Piyush Soni

Thats a good idea.👏Just like trial version, we can do first consultation for free and later on can charge for the same!!

And definately feedback system should be implemented as well!!

Abhishek Avikk Gupta

all the best .

Pratik Kumar

 I would love this!!

Piyush Soni

Thats good! Any specifics add ons that you would like to implement here?

Pratik Kumar

I would like to make sure I am getting the right person if I invest time & money. Also, I need that they listen properly instead of just closing the case which is common in most freelancing sites.

Piyush Soni

Yeah quality is important! Agreed🙂

My experiences from mentoring - some here may have opposing views:
1. Mentoring is not a magic wand or solution for all that ails you
2. Mentoring is a process, which means that good results take time. There has to be a discipline both from mentor andmentee
3. The mentee does not employ the mentor, it is a consensual relationship, the terms of which have to be agreed early on in the engagement
4. Longer term Pro-bono mentorship is often not very effective, as after sometime the mentor looks to other more profitable use of their time.. they have bills to pay too
5. There has to be a clear expectations and outcomes setting of both mentor and mentee from each other.. else the mentoring can go everywhere without defined results

Lots more.. but these are some key view points

Point 4 is absolutely valid and I have had an experience myself.. mentoring in long term does not really help if the mentor is not a part of the startup in any form. Seeking advice once is sufficient and then one needs full time people with experience in a startup to both grow and build it

Piyush Soni

Good points! Well said sir! May be we should design it keeping all these points in mind!
