Yes. Although it has its obvious disadvantages. But if the question is on possibility, then absolutely yes. Probability of it being successful is lower than if you had a good network.

Bhavik Jain

1. What disadvantages are there?

2. Any reason for the Probability?

Rushi Ahuja

1. You reinvent the wheel, for most things. You aren't hence able to avoid mistakes which others have already made and learnt from. You're solving problems from scratch, which already have standard solutions for. I think this is a very elaborate topic. From hiring to product to technology, people who've done something similar can only add value (by suggesting what to do, and more importantly, saving us from minefields)
2. Initial team building. Extremely challenging without a network.
I'm sure we can go on. Every advantage of having contacts is a disadvantage for not having them.
Again, it's very possible, but less probable.

Bhavik Jain

got your point, to summarize I can say that network in same field act as a catalyst and you should have one before you start entering into the business.

Rushi Ahuja

Absolutely right, Networks facilitate/lubricate/catalyse the process. And that's for anything which you do (jobs, studies, new hobbies, startups, etc). I started a particular venture without using any network (zero people), mostly as an experiment, and though decently successful, the journey was a (beep🙈), much more than what it should've been.

without friends or business contacts you can't start any business the reasons are as follows
1. from where you got the idea of business may be from your surrounding, friends family or from your work contacts
2. before starting any business whom you brainstormed may be friends family or business contacts,
3. at time may be friends or business contact may not help but they understand you and give you moral support as they are aware what you doing

Bhavik Jain

1. I can get the idea by seeing other business in the market or while working for somebody

2. Yes but I can discuss that idea with friends from different field too.

3. True they do but then it doesn't matters whether they are from same field or not

Kiraan Mehta

been from same field or at least they have knowledge of same filed is cherry on the cake or else no point cracking head here an there as experience matter, if you ask me about health care business I may not able to explain you in depth but you making decision on my knowledge will or can put you in trouble.

Bhavik Jain

Yes in a way my decision based on your knowledge can put me in trouble. There are some people who are smart enough to guide you irrespective of the field they are in, having such friends can also help take right decision

Omkar Dravid

More the network in starting phase lesser the efforts and money are require to market your business

Bhavik Jain

 Can you explain that?

Omkar Dravid

Network does not necessarily mean your closed family, here at Pushstart we are 15k+ members in this community is also your network, imagine you dont have this access and you need to reach out to potential customers for your business. How hectic and time consuming that would be

Bhavik Jain

Yes it will be hectic to find consumer but does network always help get leads?

Omkar Dravid

Definately it will help, its a chain which relates to human behavior. Every person endorses what they really like, and thats how network grows willingly or unwillingly.

Shivam Malhotra

possibility? yes

success? yes but chances are lower as most people will close the business within 12 months because of little or no revenue while it takes time to settle.

I had no business contacts in the field I'm in and have been doing fine.Though yes, contacts would've made me do at least 5x-10x more business compared to what I've achieved till date.

Bhavik Jain

so having friends or business contacts in the field helps a person stay afloat at the start of the business?

"Though yes, contacts would've made me do at least 5x-10x more business " - How?

Soni Singh

If someone is really passionate about something then initially lot of networking is not required. You make network during the process . When you learn things, u learn ways of networking as well. And that networking can take you a long way

Bhavik Jain

So in the end, you need a network to progress in your business?

Soni Singh

Obviously it make things easier and faster.

I think the question must be reframed. Starting a business with a 'successful' tagline is a misnomer.

Responding to the essence of your question, I would say that yes you can definitely start a business without friends or business contacts. But when you play with the mud on the field, you'll automatically attract friends/enemies. Its up to your Man Management Skills how you derive the best from both of them

Piyush Soni

Starting a business would not be a difficulty. Making it successful would involve some work, I guess😅.
As far as networking is consider, yes it does favour in the starting. After all business is all about networking!!!

Bhavik Jain

After all business is all about networking!!! - How, can you explain?

SatyaBrata Mohapatra

Either you have friends or make friends/ connections overtime. Just like shared economy; shared responsibility and vision changes the business dynamics.

Vichar Shroff

It's difficult but one can always partner/hire/co-found/get mentorship from someone with those connections or qualities to help make connections or have domain expertise. I have seen businesses fail or struggle despite having extremely talented entrepreneurs because they don't have an initial network in that field to push/bounce off ideas but it can be developed over time. As one dives deeper into a field, I m sure one would interact with newer people and slowly slowly building credibility, network would increase as well.

When I started freelancing 4 years ago, fiverr became my source of income, then Fb groups. But today the competition is too high. And how long can friends and business contact bring business? How many support in the start? A handful, but when I joinedBNI, I can see a steady increase in my workflow... Unlike Pushstart, I not only get business from the chapter but also from their contact sphere and I refer my bni members to my friends and family when have some requirement, which bni members can fulfill. This module is definitely better than going to a stranger
